Policies and Procedures

Student Rights and Responsibilities

As an MU undergraduate, you must follow academic policies, timelines and procedures that guide your studies.

If you wish to see a more complete list of University policies and procedures, please refer to the Office of the University Registrar’s Policies, Rules and Regulations.

Academic Integrity

Academic honesty is expected of all members of the University community. Charges of academic dishonesty are taken seriously and can, if a student is found guilty, carry serious consequences.

Academic Standing

Academic performance is represented by academic standing at the end of every fall, spring and summer term. University policies on undergraduate student academic standing can be found on the Office of the University Registrar’s Academic Standing page or in the Undergraduate Catalog.

Access for Students with Disabilities

The Disability Center is the office on campus designated to determine and provide access to University classes, programs and activities for students with disabilities.  Through an interactive process, the Disability Center identifies and facilitates reasonable accommodations, and, when feasible, works with instructors, staff and others to redesign aspects of a University experience.

Dates and Deadlines

There are specific times by which certain activities or forms must be completed. Always check with your academic adviser or refer to official university websites to make sure you know when you can/should take care of your University business.

FERPA

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is involved with two fundamental issues. 1. You have the right to have access to your own records. 2. You, as a student, have the right to restrict (with certain exceptions) who does and who does not have access to your academic records.

Registration Holds

Registration holds are blocks placed on your student account in myZou that prevent you from registering for classes, receiving transcripts or accessing other university services. These holds can be related to academic, financial or administrative matters.
