Academic advisors at Mizzou are faculty and staff who help you choose a fitting degree program, meet graduation requirements and explore activities that build skills and experience—serving as your guide, interpreter and mentor.
Welcome Message from the Director
Welcome to Academic Advising at Mizzou!
Whether you’re just getting started at Mizzou, exploring what’s next or mapping out the final steps to graduation, academic advising is here to help you make confident, informed decisions.
At Mizzou, advising is a partnership rooted in our values: respect, responsibility, discovery and excellence. We approach every conversation with respect for who you are and where you’re headed. We encourage shared responsibility: your advisor will offer guidance, tools and support, and you bring your goals, questions and commitment to follow through. Together, we lean into discovery—exploring majors, interests, opportunities and pathways that help you shape an experience that’s meaningful to you. And we aim for excellence by helping you build a realistic plan, understand requirements, stay on track and make decisions that move you forward with confidence.
Your academic advisor can help you connect your interests to a degree path, plan your semesters, navigate registration and identify experiences that strengthen your education (from research and internships to campus involvement). Just as importantly, advisors help you navigate the moments when plans change—because they often do—and support you as you adjust with clarity and purpose.
When you’re ready to connect, go to the Find Your Advisor page to locate your advising office and reach out.
No matter where you are in your Mizzou journey, you don’t have to figure it out alone. We’re here to support you—so you can take ownership of your experience and move forward with purpose.
